peonies 40x40cm

Written by John Keats

Ode on Melancholy

NO no! go not to Lethe neither twist
Wolf's-bane tight-rooted for its poisonous wine;
Nor suffer thy pale forehead to be kist
By nightshade ruby grape of Proserpine;
Make not your rosary of yew-berries 5
Nor let the beetle nor the death-moth be
Your mournful Psyche nor the downy owl
A partner in your sorrow's mysteries;
For shade to shade will come too drowsily
And drown the wakeful anguish of the soul.

But when the melancholy fit shall fall
Sudden from heaven like a weeping cloud
That fosters the droop-headed flowers all
And hides the green hill in an April shroud;
Then glut thy sorrow on a morning rose 15
Or on the rainbow of the salt sand-wave
Or on the wealth of glob¨¨d peonies;
Or if thy mistress some rich anger shows
Emprison her soft hand and let her rave
And feed deep deep upon her peerless eyes.

She dwells with Beauty¡ªBeauty that must die;
And Joy whose hand is ever at his lips
Bidding adieu; and aching Pleasure nigh
Turning to poison while the bee-mouth sips:
Ay in the very temple of Delight 25
Veil'd Melancholy has her sovran shrine
Though seen of none save him whose strenuous tongue
Can burst Joy's grape against his palate fine;
His soul shall taste the sadness of her might
And be among her cloudy trophies hung.

Moby Dick 80x70cm

oil on wood panel

Moby Dick ... He embodies the character of the relentless sea so well described in the verses 10-18 of Lord Byron's "The sea" ...

"Roll on, thou deep and dark blue Ocean,—roll!
 Ten thousand fleets sweep over thee in vain;
 Man marks the earth with ruin,—his control
 Stops with the shore;—upon the watery plain
 The wrecks are all thy deed, nor doth remain
 A shadow of man’s ravage, save his own,
 When, for a moment, like a drop of rain,
 He sinks into thy depths with bubbling groan,
 Without a grave, unknelled, uncoffined, and unknown."

hanging from a string 24x30cm

A lemon hanging from a string, like...
sunshine in a bowl, or...
in a cup!(?)
... but would you drink the sunshine or would it be too strong? ... would it even taste good?
...
Sunshine in a cup, like...
a lemon hanging from a string...
let it shine through and enlighten us...
let the forms flow and the feelings materialize...
...
If light & bright is... a lemon...
what would the materialization of love look like?
A juicy... red apple maybe?
And what about dark... ?
could it materialize into a ... rock, ... one easy to be thrown far away?
... and on this string (with or without the lemon) of thought...
is size and shape limiting, or does it bring everything closer?
Is it better to just feel the light, the love...
or to actually be able to drink a sip from it, to take a bite and chew on it, content...
...
Of course the dreams we have they are of the fabric woven by light and shadow, but...
some of us need them to materialize...
and even into a fruit... is ok...

from the endless sky 90x60cm

  Golden is the color of my bright shining love fueling the red colors of my passion. I can fly into the endless sky yet choose your medium to roam in, in order to bring through gold and red the black and white of life into life worth living... I can fly but it is a burden to be unlike you... as you are the divine goal of the adition of my dreams. Love is as always the sweetest cut of any that make you bleed.
